George Meek – clerk, writer, poet. Lived mainly in Otago and Southland. Contributed to the `Bulletin’ (Sydney), published several books of verse, and won the Centennial Essay `How best to build New Zealand’s second century’ sponsored by the NZ Commercial Broadcasting Service.
