Description

This is a love story.  Tchekov once said that a writer could best express moonlight by showing its reflection in a broken bottle at  a river’s edge.  Greene has tried to express a sense of love obliquely through a character who believes that he feels only hate.  The action is confined to a handful of characters in London between 1939 and today (fly leaf).
